{"id":1023,"date":"2009-08-29T16:50:13","date_gmt":"2009-08-29T08:50:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/mattisonthompson.net\/?p=1023"},"modified":"2009-09-09T17:08:47","modified_gmt":"2009-09-09T09:08:47","slug":"potatoes","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mattisonthompson.net\/?p=1023","title":{"rendered":"Potatoes"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Before setting off on my return journey to the Middle Kingdom, or what it is also known as: rice country, I&#8217;d like to pay tribute to one great man and his ingenious feat: Friedrich der Grosse, Koening von Preussen.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Whilst visiting Berlin, I also went on a short trip to Potsdam to see &#8216;Sanssouci&#8217;. Built in 1745-47 it must be one of the most magnificent places built by the prussian king as a summer palace, where legend has it he said: &#8216;Quand je suis la, je suis sans sousis&#8217;. Anyway, his big achievement, among other things, was to introduce German farmers to the potato, a vegetable that I will very much miss in China.
