Real life insights and reflections
Had an invitation in Shanghai last night to go and attend a screening of a documentary shot in Guilin, in the area of the three gorges, on the relocation and hardship of the locals as a result of the three gorges dam.

Took a short trip off campus yesterday to go and investigate the region around Ningbo. Went to a place called ‘Tiantong Temple’ which lies in the Taibai Mountains, around 25 km east of the city. I have, on good days (when they have not been hidden by pollution and dust), been able to see the mountains from my office, however I had no idea that they would be so picturesque. Quite a find and revelation, I must say!
Reflections on the last 3 months
Walking along on University Park today, I started reflecting on my last 3 months in China. It’s been quite an eventful and exciting time; as well as an incredible learning experience.
Had a relaxed morning in Shanghai, meeting a friend for breakfast, before heading back to Ningbo.
On our last full day in beautiful Lijiang we went on another trip. This time to Tiger Leaping Gorge.
Yulong Xueshan – Jade Dragon Mountain
Soaring to 5500m above sea level, some 35 km outside of Lijiang lays Yulong Xueshan. It is the southern most glacier in the Northern hemisphere.
