but if I were one, life wouldn’t be half bad.
After an enjoyable conference in Leeds (UK) with the Academy of Marketing, I took a short trip to the German capital, which I had not been to in over 15 years. Much has changed since the re-unification, though every street corner still reminds, in one way or another, of the turmoil, hardship and significance that this city has gone through and represented at one stage or another in history. There’s the Holocaust Memorial, the Reichstag with its new roof and a thriving coffee shop culture, which, in itself is not without it’s history either … the coffee shop below for example is on the first floor of the Palais am Festungsgraben; a present of the Tadjiken government to the east-berlin government. It’s a space filled with wood carved pillars, persian carpets, beautiful paintings and an air of the orient. Was great fun.
Berlin was fab – particularly also enjoyed the art galleries … looking forward to going back.
