I could also have called it: lost in translation – big time! Anyway, something funny went on, when the signs below were designed.

So, on my last trip around China I passed these signs and could do nothing but laugh … With the first two I am not even sure what they are trying to say, never mind what they are trying to advertise. The third is the wrapping of the wet towel you get on the plane – note: they call it a ‘wet turban‘ – we tried it … it isn’t big enough to fit around your head never mind construct a turban …

I guess this supports the argument that the Chinese don’t really care whether their signs make sense to the average foreigner who might or might not be confronted with them, but rather that the English is merely a prop or illusion for the many locals passing by that the business being advertised, is an international one – thus making it more desirable and attractive to the local consumer. Don’t you just love marketing?
